Has anyone found a procedure to remove and clean the Kapex blade guard?

Mine has accumulated enough crud over the years that is obscuring the laser.

I'm not asking about the laser dust lens.  I remove and clean that periodically.

Thanks!

Joe

Without dismantling, I’ve found the easiest way is with a bottle cleaning brush. The body of the brush can be bent to get right around the guard. I just remove the blade, and give it a brush out, and vacuum.
That’s how I clean all my mitre saws without stripping them.

I have not tried it, but I wonder if compressed air would work. Has anyone done it with compressed air?

I tried snaking Q-tips through the slots yesterday with limited results.

I assume the guard is spring loaded so disassembly may be risky.

I'll try the bottle brush and compressed air.

Citrus based cleaners work well, remember the guard is polycarbonate and will scratch easily.

[member=6237]deepcreek[/member] Yes you’re right, there is a spring.
The guard removal on the Kapex seems more tricky to me than other saws, just because of the way the return spring is mounted.
It is one of those tasks though, that gets easier the more you do it. The spring is the fiddly part.
