CMS, in NA why does the CMS come with the of2200 centering ring?

I finally pulled the trigger and got the CMS GE.  I was under the impression that people in the U.S. were having to buy the centering ring from across the pond if they wanted to install their 2200 in it (which they should never do cause it voids the warranty I know).  I recieved the of2200 centering ring with my set, as well as the clear insert part number 473449.  So were these parts accidentally left in there, or are they sending me these rings expecting me not to use them?

The rings for the 2200 have been included since the beginning.  As we have read and heard, Festool does not support the use of the 2200 in the CMS in North America.  My personal guess is that including those rings in the package is more cost effective than creating a custom pack just for North America for that part of the whole package.  Use them at your own risk, keep them, or throw them out.  Lots of choices.

Oh, by not supporting their usage I would also guess that the inclusion of them in the future is not guaranteed.

The whole warranty voiding thing is BS. If the switching power supply fails they have no way of knowing whether it was your 1010, 1400 or 2200 or some other tool (not sure which tool or why) hooked up to it.

Given that neither the OF 1010 nor the OF 1400 will exceed the current draw limitation of the power switch on the CMS under normal circumstances, it becomes pretty clear which one was likely in use.

I realize that if one spends the money on the CMS GE, one would want to reap the whole benefit of the device.  One can use the CMS with the 2200, so long as the factory switch is not used.

I would own the CMS/2200 setup if I could justify the investment. I simply can’t justify it.  If I were to own that combination, I would bypass the switch with one that is compatible for the amperage draw.

I may have said something like this before and so if I am repeating myself then it must be an age thing....

I had the OF2200 in my CMS for a long time but then realised that I was not so fond of the OF1400 dust collection - it is not as good as the OF2200 nor the OF1010 and a little delicate. So, I decided to switch the OF2200 out and put the OF1400 into the CMS-OF.

I have been delighted with the move as I now have a brilliant large hand held router which has the best ergonomics of any router that I have ever used. I also have a perfectly powerful router in the CMS unit where its slightly flimsy dust collector is tucked away and no longer at risk of damage. The only very minor down side is that in order to change cutters one has to release the trigger switch on the router which has some form of mechanical connection to the collet ratchet. That is no big deal as it is a safety feature.

So, for anyone in North America, where Festool do not support the use of the OF2200 in the CMS, I suggest that the OF1400 is perfectly good for everything, including panel raising. Keep the OF2200 for the heavier hand held stuff.

Not saying that I do this with the two 2200s I own in the twin CMS that I built but...just plug the router and vac into separate curcuits.  Other than sanding, I seldom use the tool starting function, I've used remote switches for years to start and stop my vacs.  I did just order the Festool remote to use on my CT36 AC so that when I'm hand sanding...it was a PITA not having one when up on a ladder or scaffold.
