CMS sliding table stroke?

What is the stroke (travel distance) of sliding table on CMS unit? I can find table dimensions, but not actual stroke.

Maximum travel is 45-½ inches.

Isn’t it the total length of the rail? Travel would roughly be that rail minus the length of the sliding platform. No?

Nope. There are stops that limit travel. They can be placed to allow movement for the first 2/3 or the last 2/3 of the profile roughly.

Also, around the 8 minute mark in this video.

Unless I'm missing something or got a slider rail that is shorter than normal, the maximum travel is about a meter with the stops all the way to each end of the extrusion.

What am I missing?

Tom, I think you are correct. About a meter is what I could gather from photos and videos. It is not true telescopic slider. The sliding table cannot go past the end of the extrusion (overextend), hence the travel must be shorter than the extrusion. The extrusion could be positioned differently on CMS unit, but this has nothing to do with the stroke.

Is the reason for the question that you want to know the maximum size of a workpiece that can be used on the sliding table?

Yas. And "maximum size of a workpiece" is a good way to phrase it.

Unless someone else posts here before I leave for work tomorrow I will stop by the shop on the way and check it out because we have conflicting answers.

I hope that will help you out.

Sorry, I had someone else measure for me and it was measured from the near side of the table at its nearest point of travel to the far side of the table at the most distance point of travel. Not the way I would have measured it.

The distance traveled from point to point is 36-3/4". Sorry for the confusion or misleading info.

The maximum size of the material is 36" less the radius of the bit.
