CMS TS 75 Module Question

Hi all

Trying to better understand exactly what the length and width limitations are of CMS TS 75 Module are without any of the extra extensions?

I found the following info but it does seem vague or I'm just not following it:
Max. working width for trimming cuts 830 mm
Max. working width longitudinal 576 mm

Trimming - When Festool state trimming @830mm do they mean that for example the max size board can only be 830mm X 830mm and you might be trimming it to 800mm on one side?

Longitudinal  - again, would this be the widest board/lumber can be when ripping? Eg. Ripping a 2.4m x 576mm down to 2.4m X 550mm for arguments sake? (for something that long would need additional support)

Last question, which of the extension tables would be the one to add first and can you store them with a folded CMS or do you have remove them first each time?

If I were to do it again as I already bought a side extension table, Id buy the ones with the legs 495531 VB-CMS/CS 50 Extension table. Its a little more expensive but I think it would be a heck of a lot easier to set up then the other one. But if your going to add a side extension you will need the fence to 492095 LA Stopper will make your life a bit easier

Hi all,

I found the maximum length and width confusing. It's all a matter of support. Technically you can just draw a line on a sheet and manually feed it WITHOUT any fence or guide. In this way the length or width is unlimited.  [eek]

However for more accuracy a fence is required. As jobsworth noted when you are using the side extention/table, the LA stopper is very usefull. I started with the MFT3 table and also looked at the extension BUT with a separate CMS module the MFT3 can be use as an support or outfeed table.

Normally I cut down large plywood sheets with the guide rail while they are resting on both. This method can also be used if you want to take off a small long section (26 x2400 mm). I would use the parallel guide and some clamps.

The extensions are such that when you fold the CMS the extensions are not affected. No need to take them off. Which one to buy first depends on what you do. I ended up with the side extension AND the sliding table...

I made an outfeed table which can also store the modules. Works nicely  but adds to the footprint
