Hi

When you insert the TS55/75 into the CMS Unit/Plate it comes with an additional riving knife that ends up being raised a lot higher than the blade and then the blade guard/dust buard attaches to that.

Question, can you use the track saws in the CMS with just the standard riving knife on the saw with complete safety or does the CMS system actually prevent this?

You are asking why, visualize a Sawstop saw which includes the blade guard stile riving knife (much higher than blade) and additional riving knife that is exactly in line with the top of the saw teeth.
If you were to use a MJ Gripper the extra CMS riving knife will get in the way of certain cuts.

The CS 50/70 Precisio saws have two different height settings which actually support what I'm talking about

I would say negative on the standard riving knife being completely safe.  You lose the blade guard which is a big part of the safety.
I've fiddled with the TS75 version of the CMS insert and I wouuldn't feel comfortable using it without the guard.
However, I am a big chicken when it comes to tablesaws so other opinions will differ. :)

There is nothing that prevents you from using TS55/75 in CMS with its standard knife. However, do it at your own risk.

Thanks guys, wasn't keen on the idea of just the TS55 riving knife either.
The Grr-ripper becomes the guard.
