Hi, I have the TS55R, and will shortly be getting a second hand CMS Unit, that has the "TS55" module. My question is, can I fit the TS55R in it? or do I need to replace the module with one made for the 55R specifically?
Maybe Shane can add other information, but I checked the Festool NZ site and there are two different catalog numbers - one for the TS55, and one for the TS55R. Why don't you directly contact Festool NZ and ask.
Yeah, I will be going in and will ask my Festool guy probably this evening. I had a mo' and whilst on here thought I'd ask anyway. Always helpful and near immediate replies!
cheers guys
Just an update for anyone interested....
There are some small differences between the cms ts55 and 55r modules so you do need to ensure you order the correct version for your saw. In my case the cms unit came with an older version ts55 module that fitted the ts55 not the ts55r. The cms aluminium plate is the same as far as I can tell as I have simply used it, and also the overhead guard, but the fitting attachment that slides over the handle of the saw and screws down to the aluminium plate is different. I think from memory there is also a slight difference in fitting the riving knife extension to attach the overhead guard.
Hi Acrobat,
I have encountered this question a number of times when the TS55R arrived in Australia. You do need the TS55R module not the older TS55 module. There are differences in the slot width for the blade and riving knife alignment and the riving knife for the CMS TS55R is completely different to the older CMS TS55. For your own safety don't try to modify the older CMS plate to suit the new saw. Here's a link to my blog where I've gone an article which shows you how to attach the TS55R to the new module. http://tutorwood.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/cms-ts55r.pdf
Please drop me a line if you need any more help.
Cheers
