CMS-VL Fence opening Size

Hello to All,

I just recently purchased the CMS-VL;  So I have been "playing" with it (getting to know it.  I went today and purchased the Freud FRE-99-036 (Adjustable tongue and grove set)...but, discovered that the the bit are to wide for the fence.  I see to "screws" in the back of the fence...but, they are extremely "tight" and I'm not sure is lossing them would damage the fence.

Any advise?

If you are trying to widen the gap in the fence then the screws are screwed into "plugs" in the T slot in the back of the fence.

These plugs in turn are fixed by a screw and if you loosen the second screw you can relocate the fences to any width.
