CMS

awesome - hopefully I can have replenished the old bank account enough by then to justify buying one and the holder thingies for my saw / router / etc.

That is interesting. I searched google using Compact Module Festool and saw that the Australian site has the pieces on their site.
Looks tres cool though...

Sounds like sometime in  mid 2009.

The CMS will most likeley require the grooves on the MFT/3 to work and who knows if they have an adaptor for the MFT 800 or MFT 1080

The drill looks interesting as well but I am so happy with my C12 I can't possibly justify the upgrade.

it does look very nice, but with a few of the issues I am dealing with on my kapex i will wait to purchase until i know all the kinks are worked out of it, maybe a year after it hits the u.s. market - sean

The problem with your post is that it implies there are or will be if it's released in thew US, "kinks" to be worked out with the CMS. Is it really necessary to assume there will be problem with any tool produced by Festool? Keep in mind their track record has been pretty good in the past, let's have a little faith.

I thought the CMS had been released in other countries for many, many years. If Festool needs someone to test out the CMS please send me a PM, I'll put one through the paces!!!  ;)

the kapex has been out about a year overseas but oddly it seems all the issues & complaints came about when saw released in usa market, this is very strange to me - sean

Not having any problems with the CMS in the last two years here. Does that help allay your fears  ::)

In truth the hassle with the CMS is getting the saw in and out of the module, and the safety is a bit weak, the router is not so bad, in fact it's great (just a bitch to store/awkward shape). Based on the complaints I'm seeing about some Festools, I think people will be jamming their fingers/saws falling out/cutting through fences and blaming Festool.

The sliding table/fence works great, but the power cable doesn't stow quite right and the push stick falls out when you carry the CMS.

It's nice a light and it looks great on site, you can cut amazing detail.

I have no fear  ;) when it comes to Festool and their products and support.

You guys are STOKED!

Well, not those of you who have tablesaws and router tables.

Mr. Jones......  maaaate :D

You rock. You nailed it.

'jamming their fingers' (you know the new ones have holes instead of cutouts at the edge of the plate. When I saw one I wanted to drill holes in my modules)

The States users will also complain that the hose clip is too flimsy, they have to buy table extensions, they have to upgrade the fence, the TS-55 is underpowered for a table saw, the slider is extra. Mounting it in the table is too hard.....        What else.....    There's nowhere to store the modules (actually, start stockpiling 80/20 for your module trolley projects)....

Not you Per. You'll appreciate it.  ;D ;D ;D
Good for a carpenter on the run.... ;D

The hope of products like the CMS is the one reason I went ahead and purchased the MFT/3.  I was quite satisfied with the 1080 table, but was investing in the future.  Can't wait until it comes across the pond.  Farewell to my cumbersome, space-wasting router table!

They are two different modules. The base for the 75 is obviously longer, so the clamps that attach it are in a different place. The quadrant that raises and lowers the saw are different, as is the kerf splitter. But the base will accept both modules, if that's what you're asking.

Have had the CMS predecessor for about 5 years with saw, router and jigsaw.  I added a simple bit of mdf to some shelves so the modules will store and slide in and out - of course Festool sell their own module storage unit for $$$$$$$.  OK so the table saw is not as powerful as my European slider, the router won't take 12mm bits (its the 1010 module I've got), the saw IS awkward to take in and out of the module (the old AF55) etc etc, but for the size, portability, accuracy, quality, design etc I'd buy the same again or the CMS to replace it without hesitation.
I often us the router table when I don't want to put the shaft for router bits on my shaper - I've even made a couple of hundred feet of skirting board with it.

Yeah, it's good for me, I love being able to move the one base and have several tools replaced by it.
