Anyone happen to have pics of a comparison btwn the sanders 5mm - 3mm brush stroke?

I just ordered my sander n dust extractor but have been wondering what the brush stroke difference really looks like. Would love to do a comparison on a gloss topcoat over dark color but don’t foresee that happening in the near future till I can save up for another one [emoji3526]

Great question. Its not really a matter of "look" in terms of what you will see on a wood (or other) surface. For me, it is more a matter of how quickly I can do a task and the abrasive grit and pace at which I shall work.

3mm is slower and more forgiving. 5mm stroke is faster and (for me) houses a lot more options. In other words, I can do every thing with a 5 that I can do with a 3, but not vice versa.

Here is a basic guide I wrote a couple of years back...

Its not entirely up to date in terms of recent models, but covers the concept.

Hope this helps!

Brillant thanx for the share!! :)

Ya, I was wondering if anyone had done a photo comparison just to see how much larger the total swirl pattern is on the 5 vs the 3.

I ordered the 125 simply cuz the paper is more easily available around my area but have dreams of what could be accomplished in half the time with the 5mm stroke....

Whoa...just clicked the link & laughed out loud!

I used your guide to help make my final sander decision last week. So my past self thanks you VERY much for writing such a great article, it was one of the most helpful pieces I could find in months of searching [emoji3526]
