Connecting new style braided hose to old style

Is there any reason to use the vac end fitting and coupler when joining an old d27 to the new braided d27 to make a longer hose? I bought them with my new hose but now realize the old hose tool end slip fits inside the new braided hose vac end connector. Should I return the vac end and coupler pieces?

The hoses will connect without any couplings or other pieces. Hose to hose is all you need.
