Constructive adhesive tape?

I have seen in the building industry they now use Ultra High Bond double-sided constructive tape for actually joining metal parts in place of fasteners or even welds. I also see here that Titebond sells a flooring tape adhesive.

I wonder what prevents 3M or others like Titebond from not creating a permanent high bond double-sided tape for joining pieces in place of liquid glue for general wood working? Any thoughts?

Apart from cost it would probably be the need for the adhesive carrier (tape) to be as strong or stronger than the glue and yet be just microns thick.
For such a product to be a commercially viable alternative to modern adhesives it would need to bring a lot to the table.
Ease of use.
Ease of clean up.
Minimal glue lines.
Strength.
Water resistance/proof.
Durability.
To name a few, a flooring contractor I know reckons flooring tape will only last a few years in situ if you are lucky.

3M makes all kinds of ultra high bond adhesive tapes for industry.  I bought mine on Amazon.

Tesa is another high bond adhesive family of tapes

You need a smooth non-absorbent substrate like metal to use a thin membrane adhesive. 3M does make acrylic adhesive tapes for permanent bonding of metal.

You might be able to use the same adhesive on smooth well-fitted maple.

For construction lumber you need thick gap filling stuff like what comes from a caulking tube, or that thick gooey Fastcap  Speedtape.

The Fastcap gooey stuff never seems harden (and it’s messy) so it is not a substitute for anything Except rubber cement IMO.
