Wondering if you guys can help
My Makita 18v kit (impact driver and combo drill)is slowly dying a death and was wondering if the Festool range of cordless drills are a suitable replacement
Cheers

depends on what you do and how much money you have to spend!

theres so many great cordless kits you could really toss a dart but if your a pro or have other circumstances that may make a difference

Yes I am a full time carpenter and have a large collection of Festool tools but for some reason people don't rave about their cordless range is there a good reason for this?

The PDC 18v drill is long in the tooth now. Poor torque figures and a temperamental gearbox with a selector switch sticks regularly, it does have a max 4000 rpm speed though, which can be a nice little luxury for smaller size drill bits, but the poor torque figures make it redundant for larger bits

Also Festool doesn't currently have an impact driver in its product range.

If you want to expand to 18v circular tracksaws, etc then the shortcomings of the drills may be forgivable, but if you just want drills I'd suggest you go with Milwaukee or the latest Makita offerings.

I upgraded all my cordless last year to Milwaukee M18 Fuel.
You can save a lot of money and buy bare tools and a couple of batteries.

I'm with getmaverick, I have the 12 and 18v Milwaukees and they work well for my commercial/industrial work.
