CS70 + MFT/3 + Incra LS = Very accurate TS?

I bought a 2nd hand CS70 a while back and must confess its the Festool I like the least.
Its dust collection is iffy and the fence is a pain in the butt to use with the extension table on.
Was seriously thinking about selling it and getting a Jet Prosaw with the Incra TS-LS tablesaw fence. This would have cost me a packet.
Then got a brainwave  [eek]
Why not put the CS70 right next to the MFT, connect them in one or other way and fit a Incra LS 25" on top of the MFT.
In this way I can rip quite wide using the MFT as a support table and by lowering the blade on the CS I am extending my worksurface for the MFT.
Any comments appreciated.

Sounds like its a smart move! Unable to attest to the problems of the 70?!?!?!!pictures of your set up??

Not sure what the story is with mating a CS70 to the MFT/3. Had you been talking CMS TS in an MFT/3-VL, I would have waved the green flag.

I have a CS 70 with side extension table and rip fence and find it to be extremely accurate across the extension table, and also very easy to use.

Would be interested to hear what problems you have found with it, and why you feel the need to use an MFT/3 and Incra LS set up.

Martin.

Hi Martin I think it is more due to the fact that the saw I bought took some real hammering. I then attached new parts to the abused main section trying to get it back into shape.
I got my Incra this week and put my masterplan into action. I must confess that I am quite happy with the result. Still some small things to sort. Here are some pictures.

It converts very easily to a the normal MFT functions by retracting the blade of the saw. Giving the MFT a larger work area.

Looking at that setup, you'd need to square the Incra fence to the blade every time you set it up ... and adjustment is by releasing the clamps and re-tightening.

I was toying with the idea of using an Incra fence with a CMS-TS75 + MFT/VL + MFT/3, but I was thinking to make a square plate with flush dogs underside and mount the Incra base to it.

In the end I decided it was all folly and that track saw, KAPEX and modest rip width table saw is all I need for straight cuts ... thinking the GE with the extension table is adequate for my foreseeable needs.

I also had a concern that the Incra fence could deflect under certain loading ... I like the way a traditional rip fence clamps!
