Hi folks!
I'm contemplating buying the CT17 as a household vacuum with only occasional machinery use.
We have a lot of pets and at our place you can eat from the floor. You will even get your belly filled..
Normal vacs (Miele, Elektrolux..) last about 2 years, then they start to desintegrate, that's why came up with something normally used in an industrial setting, hence my question.
Waddaya think, fellow F'toolers?

You will like it, my wife loves my Fein II for our extensive tile floors.  Between the long cord and the 16' hose it makes cleaning so much easier.  We do use the Festool vac accessory kit however.  We have 15.5' shed ceilings in our kitchen, dining, and bath areas so I have 9 extension tubes to access the peaks.

I would say the CT17 is just fine for home use. But I would also say this about a Miele vac, because normally those last a lot longer than 2 years.

That surprises me about the Miele. Have had great service from ours.

I use mine about the house quite a lot. It's a bit of a lump however and can whack quite hard into walls, radiators and whatnot as you pull it along behind you.
For domestic only use I'd stick with Miele or, maybe better still, Numatic as you can fairly easily buy spares for these

My wife steals my CT26 all the time to vacuum the house  [blink] Says it works better than hers  [huh]

She loves it and I hate it!  [sad]

It's mine  [unsure],  she has two other vacuums she can use.....

BUT NOoooo.. They always want to play with my toys.  [crying]

Thanks for the replies, folx.
It's not the motors that are laying off, it's more the plastic parts breaking..
Probably mainly due to users impatience but i hope that the somewhat greater mass of the vac makes it impervious to being pulled like a poodle on a leash.
You see, i've got it all rationalized...

Have now used the CT 17 for 1 day and i can say i'm happy with the purchase. The long hose (compared to normal vacs) comes in handy in our house. One might have to buy a new handle at some time in the future, cuz it's made of plastic but otherwise i like my new baby.

You solved your issue but my wife loves her Dyson.  It's pretty old and we have a couple dogs, little ones, however.  I'm impressed by the power and I like the lack of bags.
