CT Hose Garage Damaged 36D Hose

Received the CT hose garage from Bob yesterday.
When I installed and removed the 36D hose from the top front slot, the edges are so sharp that they sliced the green off the hose. The edges on the underside of the two wings are not radius but are sharp corners that run around their perimeter.
I filed and sanded the edges that it works ok now.
I just wanted to give everybody a heads up.

Is the plastic of the hose garage hollow or solid? 
If solid, is it possible to sand off the corners so they are rounded?
How 'bout something like a layer or two of duct tape to smooth off the angles?
