I just picked up the 36mm hose for my Kapex last night.  Can anyone list what other Festools recommend using the 36mm hose?

Thank you.

I use the 36mm on everything except the sanders...the 27mm is more flexible and alllows a lower air flow (set your CT to the tortoise to further slow the airflow).  The lower airflow is conducive to sanding, and helps keep the sander from being pulled into the work surface, which might create swirl marks.

The 36mm is a must in high chip generating applications like routing and planing...I use it with my planers, routers, and TS as well (although I also use a 27mm hose with the TS...just depends on which CT is closest.

Martin, do you use the smaller OF 1010 router? If so, do you use a step down adapter for the 36mm hose or just use the 27mm hose with it. I've noticed that dust extraction isn't great with the 27mm and the OF 1000 router; yet most of the chips not collected fall within a few feet. I wonder if it is a product of airflow or the nature of the beast.

i use the 36mm hose for everything, saws, planer, routers, leigh jigs and the sanders, however, i do agree with martin.
i would recommend the 27mm hose for the sanders. the 36mm hose is not flexible enough for sanding requirements. but due to financial restrictions (i am skint!), i make do with the 36mm hose.

hi alex, the adapter i use is "tool end connector" 487071.

i dont know how to provide a link, but if you go to the festool tool problems page and then click on the thread, RAS 115 converter........you will see this has been spoken of before.

regards, justin.

Thanks justin. I see this is simply the standard hose end for the 27mm hose. I thought maybe there is a special adapter that fits in the 36mm hose only, but apparently this one fits too.

Is there an adapter to fit the 36 mm hose on the 27 mm dust port of sanders?

You can make your own adapter from a short length of 27mm hose and a pair of Hose Reducing Sleeves (Item #487071) as I did and as shown in this photo

.    Here's a link to another post in which I discuss my adapter.

I have posted about this in many messages which you can find using the FOG forum search function and searching for "hose adapter" and my name Ronyak in the "by user" box.  I use a 36mm hose whenever I can and leave the 27mm adapter on most of the time, excepting when using larger router bits with my OF 1400.
