CT22 & DeWalt ROS

My Festool hose's rubber booty doesn't quite fit on my small DeWalt ROS.  As you can see in the pics -- it doesn't push on far enough to stay on tight.  The DeWalt has a small "inner" ring and a larger "outer" ring.  The "outer" ring is preventing the booty from sliding on all the way.

Any suggestions?  Does Festool have an adapter that might work?

My answer was going to be this (ES125):

But seriously, maybe someone can help with a fix for the DeWalt?

I just bought 2 new Festool sanders -- that brings the total to 4.  The DeWalt is going to have to do for awhile.

It actually works quite well with the vacuum.  It's just not a tight enough connection between the sander and the hose.

yeah,    get a festool ros !!! :) :) :)

I have the same sander and just use a hose clamp. I don't use it much since the rotex was purchased. I do feel the need to get rid of the sandpaper though.

DeWalt has a vacuum  adapter  # DW4380 that fits the Festool hose perfectly. It's for the later model DW421 & DW423 Sanders

Jim -- can you tell which model mine is?  Would this adapter work with my sander (it's about 4 or 5 years old now).

I didn't get a chance to measure it, but the DeWalt palm sanders have an oblong dust port. This DW4830 has a round end for the vac and an oblong end for the sander. If your sander has an oblong dust port it should fit.

I cut off the inner ring on mine, which now allows the hose to slide on further.  I used a simple hacksaw, it made easy work of the plastic.  If you choose to remove yours as well, keep in mind that you will not be able to use a larger hose in the future, which I believe is the purpose of the larger ring.  Hope this helps!

I confirmed today that mine is a DW421 sander.  According to this document that I found online, the DW4380 adapter should fit.

I ordered the adapter from Jim Force (Force Machinery) yesterday and the part arrived today.  It fits perfectly and now I can use the DeWalt dust free with my CT22 (until the DeWalt burns out and gets replaced with a Festool).

Thanks, Jim!

I just picked up a DW4380 so that I too may hook up a Dewalt sander I already owned to my CT22.  My question is why does the part have a small opening in it?  Won't some dust escape leaving from the sander port to the hose?

My guess is that the hole is there to reduce some of the suction for vacuums that don't have suction/speed control.  That way the sander doesn't "stick" to the work.  I just got this part from Jim Force and it works great!

I just received it before I left for work today so I didn't have a chance to try it.  Did you leave the hole uncovered or did you cover it with a piece of tape?

No need to cover the hole.  Nothing gets out of the hole.  If you do decide to cover it, I'd dial the suction down on the Festool vac to half-way.
