First post....

Does anyone know if the power receptacle  used in the CT22E is something off the shelf?

I bought this vacuum \several years ago and hate to admit I have only used it to vacuum out the cars and some cleanup when we built our new house.

I am now setting up my first real wood shop and went plug in my router and the receptacle fell apart falling back into the unit.

I really don't want to deal with ordering some $50 proprietary receptacle (if that's the case).

I have a new interest in putting the MFT (1080 in my case) to use after seeing Paul "HalfInchShy" videos on Youtube.  Ordered a set of Dogs from John in Colorado which came yesterday.  Nice dogs and super nice guy.

I really enjoy all the Festool stuff I have and looking at purchasing a sander next so I don't have to run my compressor as I only have air sanders.

Hi,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

What cleaning set do you have for the CT22?

Seth

First,  welcome to the forum.  Sorry to hear about you receptacle problem.  Why don't you try calling Festool and talk to them about your problem.  If I remember correctly there is a little retaining strip on the rear that may have come loose.

The receptacle is easily replaced.  It is also serviceable if it looses it's grip on the attached plug, but because of the forum guidelines I can't show or tell you how.

Seth,  I dont have a cleaning attachement set for it.  Just use it for carpets in the car and as I said cleaning when we built at our new house.  Speaking of which I need to order the rubber piece on end of hose. We used the Festool to go over all the floors in hose before carpet inch by inch !

So that rubber thing saw 2100 square feet of floor :)

Peter, if I get time I will call them today.  I just went out and took a good look at it and guessing that receptacle is not something I am going to find at home depot !

Welcome to the forum. As suggested on the posting page for tool problems, give our service department a call. They can take care of the issue for you and the receptacle is something that you can install yourself.

If you want my assistance, feel free to email me.

Good grief that must have taken forever  [eek]

As the receptacle is the weak part of the vacs, I just put a 1 to 3 outlet adapter from the big box store in. As I don't remove it, the vac socket stays working fine and the adapter takes any abuse from repeated plug-ins as well as giving me extra outlets.

Shane,

Do you know if the outlet has been changed to a different part? Mine has been garbage for a long. long time and is well out of warranty. I don't like the idea of dropping $50 to replace a bad part with the same bad part. However if the replacement is a "new and improved" part, I would definitely reconsider.

You know it wasn't bad.  I don't think adding a tool would have got it as clean. Rubbing the rubber nozzle across the wood underlayment basically removed all the dirt and drywall dust and the wood looked new again.  So was worth the effort for us. The Mrs and I just took turns.

On another note Festool saved the day on our doors and windows.  I ordered my windows and doors with extended jambs. Long story short I told the salesman the wall thickness with sheeting and extra foam insulation. They came in about 3/4" wider than I wanted. They would not take ownership in it at all.  So I used the Festool track saw to rip the correct amount off all the way around.  Of course the cut was so perfect you couldn't tell they had been touched. And two guys in the garage were ripping them down faster than they could install them :)

I love that saw.

Harry, I wanted to confirm with our service department before posting. But, yes, we have a new receptacle which is supposed to correct the issues with the original becoming loose in some instances over time. So, new and improved.

Yes, I just talked to Scott and have a new receptacle on the way. He confirmed they are from a different manufacturer and more robust than the original.  You will have to crimp the leads that come with the new one to your existing wiring as it does not connect in the same way.

Shane thanks for your help on this.

[thanks]

ps: we need a smiley for "happy dance"

Festool is sure quick shipping stuff out.  Installed the new receptacle today. It comes with a new receptacle, couple fork crimp on connectors, the piece with 4 screws it snaps into, new gasket and cover.

The old one had a retainer on the back. It basically fell apart when I pushed a plug in. I never did find all the pieces but it was pretty light duty.

The new one is really nice and I am sure will hold up.
