Good day to all.  I apologise if this has already been answered, but I couldn’t see that anywhere.

I am about to purchase a CTL Midi.  I have a number of tools (Festool and Makita and Bosch) that all have power cords, and plan to use them connected to the power take off on the Midi.  I’m aware that there’s a Festool Bluetooth switch available as an extra purchase, but is it possible to power the vacuum on and off “remotely” if the tool is power connected directly to the vacuum?

So the setup would be:  wall socket to CTL Midi, Midi to power tool, then use the power switch in the tool to operate both tool and vacuum.

In short, yes.

There is one caveat though. If the vac was powered on by the remote and a tool is started from it, when the tool is powered off the vac will turn off too, as if it was powered on by the tool use. Not "remembering" that it was not initially powered on by the remote and not by the tool.

This is useful when you want to power on the vac ahead, but want it to power off automagically e.g. when you finished your cut. But can be annoying too when you wanted it in reverse order. When in manual, it just stays powered (and the socket is powered too) ignoring the tool or remote. When vac is off, the socket has no power either.

Check the user manual for more details.

You can have up to 5 remotes and one tool attached via Bluetooth plus the power take-off. All work in parallel to each other. So you can have a one power take-off tool, one Bluetooth tool paired and five remotes paired at the same time.

I am assuming that even if the bluetooth function is not used, that the normal operation of a tool with the dust extractor in the auto mode will still start the extractor and then shut it off after the tool trigger / button is turned off just like a non-bluetooth model.  I don't have bluetooth equipped dust collectors so I am also asking this for my own knowledge.

That's correct Peter, I have a CT 22 & a MIDI both with bluetooth and that's how they function. Interestingly enough, if you turn on the vac with bluetooth, and then trigger a plugged in tool, when you release the trigger on the tool, it will still turn off the vac even though it was originally turned on with bluetooth...which makes sense.

I recommend the CT26 (I had the MIDI and upgraded to the CT26 because of the accessories that are available
