Hi Everyone,
Today, 4 May 2013, Anderson Plywood Sales hosted the traveling, touring Festool Road School with Allen Kensley presenting. From Festool we all got to talk with Lars Fackler who has up to Allen starting touring with the School the Festool rep from Northern Los Angeles County up to Paso Robles. I had only spoken to him a few times by phone. Now he is the representative from San Diego to Paso Robles, plus Las Vegas and Arizona. We know Lars will do very well, so it was marvelous to meet him in person. Then as a bonus. Festool Trainer-to-the-Stars Steve Bace made the trip from Henderson, NV and confided he was going back right after the show to train a new class Monday at 0730 sharp.
Allen demonstrated the new TS55REQ as well as the Domino XL 700, plus many other products as before our eyes he constructed a sturdy table with a top of 32mm thick Maple and legs made from stock turnings. Seeing how well the TS55REQ straight-lined that maple should put to rest any doubts the TS55 and TS55REQ have enough power to handle more than 18mm plywood, and to do so with the Fine Tooth Blade resulting in really impressive glue-ready cuts.
For years I have been saying that my fleet of trusted TS55s are just panting for the chance to have at thick hardwood.
Between Allen's Festool Van and Anderson Plywood Sales the video camera work and projection was impressive even by Hollywood standards, which is fair because Anderson Plywood is about a mile from the historic MGM Studios lot, now called Sony Pictures. BTW, because John from Anderson was taking pictures with his professional Nikon, I never even pulled my digital Nikon from its bag.
All the host's local arrangements we hope for A Road School were provided. The participants were many, but no so many any of us lost an opportunity to learn and talk to everyone. I met good buddies from End User Classes and also fellow FOG members.
The parking was well marked and convenient. The breakfast was wonderful and the lunch impressive. Good buddies, good food, Festools all make for good duty.
