[attachthumb=#][attachthumb=#]Their family arrives saturday  [eek] and this is the bed they want to sleep on...its not finished, still needs large drawers in base and small drawers & drawer fronts in side table things..its made of havana edgegrain plyboo..the oribinal design had headboard continue straight across ,but homeowner changed it to drop on each side..whatever

They should understand that you can't rush quality; that's a nice bed!

Since the drawer fronts are going to be applied anyway, maybe you can cut those and finish the bed.  Deliver it for Saturday and just prop the drawer fronts up in the openings.  Make the drawer boxes and later go back to attach them to the fronts and install slides or whatever.

Still a crazy agressive schedule!  Good luck!

lovely bed. they will be thrilled.
pauls idea is a good one. i would screw a piece on the inside to hold it there . then do the drawers later

Any chance of pics when itsfinished and some more detail on construction. I'd like to build one for myself ( though I'll probably never find time.
Happy New Year

you bet,Richard ...I'm going to take some finish pics tomorrow ...if you haven't worked with plyboo (bamboo plywood) before, it's really a great product . Easy to work with and I've just been finishing with  oil (Emmett's The Good Stuff) and it looks amazing.

Had some issues uploading pics lately, hopefully these come through...finished bed but homeowner hasn't decided on hardware . Trying to talk them into Blum servo-drives so there wouldn't be need for pulls on lower drawers. Haven't installed  servo-drives before but they look pretty straight forward . Anyone have any feedback on them?

Looks great! Nice looking drawers, did you make them?
I think your initial design would have looked better but as long as your client is happy it's all good.

Thanks Tim...yes I agree about headboard design....& no ,I didn't build drawer boxes...it's just not cost effective for me to build  them myself....

Are those touch-open drawer glides or are you installing hardware?

Job is beautifully done!  Makes me want to build a bed.

jon, I'm trying to sell them on servo drive system by Blum...you just tap drawer front and it pops open..so no need pulls/knobs...it's a bit expensive though

Thanks for the pictures. Very smart bed? If they haven't gone for servo, you could put some push 'thingies' that will make the drawer pop open enough to then pull it. Not as slick, but much cheaper.
