Henrik Tjærby of Denmark attaches a V-block to the base of his Domino joiner, and uses the set-up to cut slots on the mitre corner joints. I found that with a bit of practice, the same could be done freehand using the sight gauge on the fence to position the machine with the mitre line. I used a chisel to square the ends. Dead-on mitres for these trays were cut on the Kapex (which was fine-tuned using Gary Katz's four-cut(?) method for square cuts upon purchase).

That's a neat modificatiion. Any chance of a pic of the underside to see the full shape of the jig?

This is the block I used before going free hand. The 90* notch was cut on the bandsaw with a mitre gauge. The vertex is flush with the front edge of the base.

That’s a handy mod, that provides extra strength and nice aesthetics. Did Festool miss a trick here?

Thanks for that...rather clever.    Nice job on the trays also.  [big grin]

Those handles look like they're riveted on.  [eek]

Thanks for the kind remarks. Rivets are reinforced with epoxy glue in the pre-drilled holes.

Great jig and use of the Domino!! Thanks for sharing...I am going to have to give that a try.
