Cutting variable width dados

Does anyone have a suggestion for cutting dados with a (non-festool) router using the Festool rail as a straight edge? My main concern is to cut variable width dados for plywood sometimes over longer lengths. A quick setup would be nice too.

Has anyone tried the DadoRight for Festool? I like the concept but it just looks a little flimsey...

I use the Microfence if I am moving the router. I use my router table if I’m moving the wood. My router table has a micro adjustment fence.

You can adapt your router to work with the Festool track guides.  In the setup below, I have the guides over constrained as shown however if only one of the guides actually engages the track. then the micro adjust functions to do what you are wanting to do.

I made my own that I use with a compact router. It rides on a straight edge clamped to the workpiece. With mine you set the width from the workpiece, no measuring required. Two passes, one up and one back and you are done.

I'm waiting on the UJK Grooving jig when it's available and will report on it. I plan a comparison to my jig, the DadoMax, and the Infinity Dado Jig as I have access to all three.

This is a a Q&D way of doing dadoes. In use you would use a .5" bit for material from .5 to .875 or so.

You hold the top of the base against the guide take one pass then turn the base to the location that gives you the the width of dado you need then take another pass. 10 ticks on the perimeter is + .050"

I use the thick side of the track and hold the router up against it while pushing the router.

2 sided melamine with mdf core makes a good base. The small circle on the drawing is depicting the router base.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks everyone, I will most likely end up with the Micro Fence. I still wonder if anyone has tried the DadoRight?

Yes Micro Fence is definitely the way to go! Love mine! Have a extra setup Im looking to sell too but I dont have an extra Festool guide rail interface for it.
