Could a Rotex be used to cut a 2k ureathane gloss surface the same as hand sanding?

I'm fairly new to cutting and buffing. I only do small surfaces and have always just used 3m 1500 - 2000 wet by hand.

I don't know if one could even use a tool without removing too much material, but if it's possible I'd be real interested in learning how to use it.

You can definitely use it to buff it back up, but I think I would stick to cutting by hand.
I have used both the RO90 and RO125 for buffing clearcoat and for polishing plastics. They work great with regular compounds/polishes for clear finishes or with the Novis system for plastics.
I have never tried the actual Festool stuff as no one stocks it around here, but I have experience with the other products from my bodyshop days.
