CXS chuck not reliable?

Is it just me or has any of you fellows had any problems with the CXS chuck, the current one?  ???

Mine keeps slipping and does not grip very securely no matter how I position or crank it tight. Drilling 4mm holes in thin metal the chuck simply does not grip well enough to complete a single hole without slipping, retightening and then slipping again. When deburring the hole the same happens.

When switching to a hex bit chuck (Hitachi) the drillbit is secure but then the bit holder magnet on the CXS is far too weak to handle the package, leading to another dilemma. Awkward, at best.

I really enjoy the little rascal but things like this are certainly wearing my patience thin... 
 
I had this problem with the original chuck of my T15. Now I've swapped it for the newer ratcheting chuck and that one's fine, but the older one was crap. Does the CXS have a ratcheting chuck or is it the older type?
 
By "current one" you mean the new 10mm ratcheting chuck right? I hope it isn't defective, I planned to buy it if it was introduced here in Canada...
 
The magnet fell out of mine.  I now use the chuck with no problem so far.

In the answers above there is a lot of confusion about Henriks problem.

The CXS/TXS Jacobs chuck BF-FX 10 (499949) has been updated to max. Ø10 mm in the 2.6 Ah version (see picture below).
It's a ratchet type of chuck indeed. But this chuck has no magnet, that only the CE bitholder has.

I both have the new 2.6 Ah CXS & TXS and cannot reproduce the problem when drilling in steel with the Jacobs chuck.
If I were you I should contact Festool about that and try to change it for a better version.

To clarify things a little bit:

Yes, it is the current Jacobs chuck; new edition 10mm.
I did not have this problem with the old 8mm chuck which I no longer have.

I think I was sober enough and it seems my new chuck did not ratchet when tightening the drill bit. The chuck failed and I retightened it thinking it "was probably me" but after the second failure I started thinking "it is probably not me" and after the third failure I knew that it wasn't me.  It was the first time I used that particular chuck. I usually don't have problems with chucks - we might not be best buddies but at least we get along.

I will compare the chuck against another one of them newer chuck, there is another one approx 25m from the apparently faulty one.  ;)

 
I have now tested the other chuck: it feels a lot better. I have not compared the two against each other but the difference is obvious to me. Looks like I am going to have to return the other one.  [crying]

When one of my landscaping machines won't start, I take it to my equipment guru. He says, let's look at it, lays his hand(s) on it and BINGO!  It starts right away.

You just need a Troll in your shop.

Thank you Tinker - I am a bit short on Trolls but I think I'll let my wife handle the chuck - it will sort it straight out! [big grin]

I think it will be sorted out one way or another today - I am passing by the dealership and either they school me in proper chuck handling technique or I will leave with a new chuck.  [wink]
 
Sorted out today at the dealership, the chuck was replaced on the spot and the new one does what it is supposed to do. :)
