Cyclones and AS hoses

So, I'm thinking of picking up a Cyclone while I'm in the San Mateo this week. One thing that just occurred to me, is that AS hoses probably won't work that well with the cyclone as it is made from plastic material and most likely insulating.

So, my thinking is that I'll just hook up a cable between the hose fittings on the cyclone so that both AS hoses are connected, that should sort the hoses. But won't there still be a substantial buildup of static electricity inside the cyclone? All that dust whirling around seems to make a perfect environment for that..

Anyone who can share some experiences with using AS hoses and a cyclone? Maybe I'm just over-thinking the situation..

I have the Ultimate Dust Deputy and they address that issue with some copper tape you install. Not sure how/If it works but the cyclone part stays clean and it hasn't exploded yet  ;D

No cyclone, but a jumper wire will definitely take care of connecting the AS hose to the other AS fittings or the CT. I have one to jump some PVC pipe in my CT33 shop set up.

I just got home to my hotel with my new cyclone and I noticed in the assembly instructions that they do indeed recommend a small piece of copper tape thru the 90 degree connector (if you have that model) but nothing is said about running it thru the cyclone itself. This makes me wonder if they used some plastic material that conducts enough electricity to avoid the problem. I'll have to check the resistance with a multimeter once I get home.

I talked to the guys at woodworks as they have a setup with AS hoses and a DD cyclone in the shop and they had not noticed any problem with it, so I guess I'm just overthinking things. I'm sure it will all be fine once I hook it up.

I'm pretty sure I read that the DD plastic does conduct the electric thur the body and the tape is for the black fittings.
