I have a project with a dark and light wood glued-up together with a lot of relief carved in it and plenty of sanding. The dust from the dark wood spoils the lighter wood and I have to perform follow up sanding to remove the darker dust. I hit the glue up with 90 psi air, hoping to remove all dust, but as soon as I started to clear coat it, the darker dust smudges the lighter wood. I can vacuum the glue up, but I don't know if that will be enough. Maybe 90 psi air, vacuum, and then a solvent wipe in the direction of the wood might clean it up. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Blow off, wipe with denatured alcohol. Follow label directions on the DNA.

What about a light coat of sanding sealer on the light wood areas prior to sanding the dark areas?  It should seal the pores of the light wood and prevent them from being contaminated with the dark wood dust.

Thanks guys. I think spraying the clear coat would solve the problem. I am brushing it now. I'll try the alcohol wipes first, but the particles are so fine, I think they will contaminate the lighter wood.
