Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has a good deck paint they recommend.  I have been using a stain for the last six years but had to replace several boards and so the deck doesn't look the way I want.  There seem to be a lot of options but there also seems to be mixed reviews on almost all that I look at.

Thanks,
Jeff

I had to do some repair work on my mother's deck, so like you I was trying to blend the old into the new. I've used Woodscapes before but it just doesn't last more than 1-2 years before it starts to lift. I came across California Paints (located in Massachusetts  [eek]) and they produce a product named Storm System. I used Category 4, the solid color version, and after 3 seasons her deck still looks like new.  [thumbs up]

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I will look into all of these but the article Scott posted is looking like something I had envisioned. The solid color is something that I definitely want.

When working on decks, it may be helpful to know that the CCA (Chromated Copper Arsenate or "Wolmanized" treatments) that were used up until a few years ago (in the US) were more prone to expansion/contraction.  The chemicals used to treat the wood made it absorb/desorb more moisture than it would before treatment.  The net result would be that the decking would break down mechanically (it would expand/contract and split so much that it would become useless)- but it wouldn't rot!!!
