I was wondering what the definition of a Festool Machine is for the purposes of the £50 voucher promotion in the uk? Specifically does it include:

A CMS Basic unit (CMS-GE) ?
A CMS-OF router insert or CMS-TS 55 saw module ?

I think they see it as a tool once it has an engine, i know that the syslite by example is considered an accessory.

I agree with Timtool, I think Festool will only classify a tool as something with an electric motor on it.

Everything else as an accessory!

I think it does include the CMS. But of course you'd be best off to ask it the actual dealer where you'd want to spend the voucher.

It's probably anything with a serial number, which would include the Syslite, CMS, Sysport, etc. Pretty sure the modules for the CMS do not have serial numbers.

The CMS-GE has a serial number, but none of the inserts have one.

Thanks for the replies. I will check with my dealer but it looks like the CMS-GE is the only item that would qualify.

I picked up two syslites and got £50 off each with the vouchers, had wanted them for ages, discount persuaded me to purchase, also purchased 2nd CXS, this one came in no2 systainer with attic and drill bits included.

I have now moved my 18+3 into this box as it was always a struggle to fit it in a sys 1 as I also have the depth chuck for drywall in the box, I can fit 2 CXS's, 2 spare batteries, 2 angle chucks, 2 centrotec chucks and 1 charger in a sys 1, which left me with a spare sys 1 for my dust extractor cleaning kit.

Have an email from Festool Uk that confirm that the Syslite is classified as a machine and the voucher can be used against a purchase of one.

My guess is that if it had some way of conducting electricity through any mechanical parts (power switch in the CMS-GE) it would be a 'machine' by Festools definition. But this is obviously just my guess of a common denominator.
