You might want to consider using a Sortainer for the bits, not to mention a good selection of the screws that you normally use.

I'm thinking about the new trays that nest in the T-Loks, but for screws.  Used with the Domi. XL tenon assortments.

Interested in Drill setups you guys use.  [embarassed]

Anyone done it?  Seeing the NAINA kit got me thinking that maybe I should move mine to a larger Systainer and make room under the insert for a couple sets of bits, or even just throw them in on top.

You can move any insert to any systainer without problems, as long as the new systainer is of equal or bigger size.

Making a storage solution UNDER the insert isn't that ideal though. It's not that comfortable taking the insert in and out all the time and doing it all the time wil break it. Seems easier to me to make some sort of removable tray that sits on top of the CXS.

I'd advice against the sortainer idea. Those things are way too heavy, expensive and waste too much space inside (over half).

Depending on how many and what length bits you want to have in the CXS Systainer, you might be able to use an attic lid on a Sys - I. I don't know if the CXS  takes any inside lid space, but I was able to use an attic lid on a Sys- I  (Classic) for my C12. I had to make a couple cuts outs in the bottom of the drill insert  to reduce the height of the charger and drill.

Hi!

This is what my bosch cordless came in:

It,s a sys 2 classic. The top insert can't take too much weight and is a bit wobbly when lifting it out of the sys. So if you're making your own I would suggest making it out of plywood. Another idea is to try and store the cordless on top of the charger on the left side of the sys and keep your bits to the right. That way you don't have to lift out an insert with lots of small pieces
and drop them out all over the floor.

link not working  viking.
i dont think i would like having to remove the insert to get to the bits

it's like the centrotec systainer, the trays are not practical and the systainer takes too much space for the few bits it contains, instead i put what i need in the lid compartment of my toolbox systainer, and the bigger parts in my MFTB when i go on site.

Here are pics of the cut outs.
I keep screws and hardware and some other stuff in the RackTainer.  When I get bit holders made for the attic compartments I will have  all the most used bits in that.  So either the whole unit can go or just grab the Sys - I and a few screws. I wanted this  in a Sys - I  so that the combined height would match the  other units in my site work set up, and this height fits better in my truck.

I was thinking of putting my cxs in a sys 2 with lid sort and as you can then stand the charger on its side and then the offset chuck standing up it frees up about a third of the internal space for whatever else you want to put with the drill and the lid storage  as well

I moved my C12 into a sys 2 years ago. I just swapped the insert over. I throw everything else on top: Bits stay in the case they came in. Small level, tape measure, things like that... So many small jobs can be handled with just a drill and a few things, so the exatr room made sense.

My T15 always has a 4 drawer sortainer latched underneath to hold everything from kreg jig and screws to 10" bits, dowel centers, etc, etc. That rolls around the shop on top of the CT mini, and while yes, the sortainer's not the most spec efficient way to do things, it's faster and neater than pulling out trays.

I've got the EU CXS-set and the double decker insert is a waste of space.

The attic lid with the bits & drills is absolutely great and accessible, but the two part stacked insert is cumbersome to remove (gets stuck under the hinge edge and the tools tend to shift when its tilted upright to get away and there are no proper handles to lift from so you have to pry it loose with your fingertips. Posted pics of mine here.

If you insist on doing a two-story insert for a Sys2-attic then I fully +1 one of the previous comments on making the bit-storage-insert go on top of the tool insert and be easily removable with it's own handle and no lips going under the systainers protruding hinge edge.

Ideally there would be a Sys2-size attic systainer with two-three drawers á la sortainer underneath the tool compartment for larger drills, etc. and still leave a standard Sys1 size tool compartment under the attic lid. AFAIK this does not exist or at least I can't find one on the Tanos website.

I just always have my screw sys and my centrotec sys on my CXS the three are always together. Look at the middle stack.

I would like to vote for Festool to bring the Racktainer back to the US!  Can I get some support here guys?!?

I would agree it would be great to see the rack trainer offered again here.
I could see myself with another one for sure
