Here goes nothing.....
Recently purchased a Delta bandsaw, model 28-190. When checking the unit out, I immediately noticed the upper was missing, and negotiated another price. Unfortunately, I failed to notice that all the internal guts for the upper wheel were gone as well.
Dumb and Dumber.
At any rate, I have scoured the net for parts, and at every turn there is a "Discontinued" stamp.
Delta.com, ereplacements.com, Amazon.com, eBay.com, and a couple dozen other sites that indicated they sold my model parts.
No Luck
I did find one ad in eBay that is hopeful, but won't know anything till the 7th of sept (seller on vacation)
I have already decided that making a wooden upper wheel is viable (once I have the proper size shaft for the bearing).
Then I got to thinking........ I have a 3D printer. If I'm going to make a wooden wheel, why not 3D print some of the other parts missing from my bandsaw? Nothing that will have excessive forces placed on any area of course.
But to draw up any plans in CAD, I would either need an actual part to measure and print, OR
and here is where the groupd plays a major role in getting my bandsaw functioning.
Does anyone have the model identified in the subject line that would be willing to help me out by hand drawing and measuring their components to send to me. I will CAD them up, and send back to you for verification of the measurements, and or if I missed anything.
I do believe that all the upper components can be measured without taking the upper unit completely apart.
Getting the measurements (and a photo of the actual component would help as well) would be a tremendous help for me.
FYI... My bandsaw is listed as 12 inch, but in looking through some pages of parts, it appears that 14 inch Delta bandsaws may be a sister to the 12inch.
So if you have either a 12 or a 14 inch model - your help will be appreciated.
