Plugged in my DF700 yesterday. Odd odor immediately and then it would not operate. Ran for half second every time I turned it on. Tool has not seen heavy use. This is a hobby. Anyone else see that happen?

Sent it back per Festool web site instructions. Guess I will get to see how good they are with service.

A little put out with my local Woodcraft store. After purchasing many Festool products over the years they simply said " call this phone # , we won't help". In the nicest way possible though.
Does make me wonder why I have made it a point to buy from them when the internet is right in my house.

Update:
I mailed router late Friday afternoon March 24. It arrived today March 29 repaired. I spent no $. Got it back in three working days. I bitched when the thing didn't work(always ticked when a tool fails it's job), so I must post when a company comes though. Festool came through.

If it's still under warranty, the woodcraft would be able to pack and ship it for you for no charge. It would be sent back to the store after repair though, and not your residence. This adds days to the process though because we sent them out once a week.

Also, if you get a tool you're not 100% satisfied, you can return it locally within the 30 days not worrying about shipping. Not to mention getting a defective unit is easily swapped locally.

I put mine thru lots of heavy use esp oak, it takes a beating and a joy to use.. i love it.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!  [smile]  or maybe  [sad]

Yes, everything goes back to Festool central for repair. There are no "authorized repair centers" If under warranty shipping is free both ways. Sending it for repair through the dealer will most likely add a couple days to the time since you have to get to /  from the dealer.

I would second and third the comment that it is far more efficient to contact FESTOOL directly and send in the tool without the extra layer of going to a dealer.  I am not bashing your dealer, but with a direct ship to FESTOOL you eliminate the possible delays of busy days, we only deal with this on certain days, Burt was sick today and he is the only one who does this ...

I don't remember many posts here about motor or electronic issues in the entire Domino line let alone the DF-700.

Two weeks ago I had a SysLite Uni go toes-up. I filled out the on-line paperwork, printed the pre-paid shipping label and sent it back to Festool. Seriously...7 days later the repaired Uni showed up at my front door. Easy peasy, it's really a nice way to handle the repair situation.

Be advised that Festool currently doesn't have the ability to give you service updates. That's something they will be adding in the near future.
