If you expect, and follow thru with the thought, that the 1000 will be the only Festool toy you will ever buy, go for the savings. If you expect to buy two of those unresistable toys, (the more likely scenario) go for the newer changes of the 1010. The detachable cord is probably the best advantage you can immagine. If you have plenty of room to spread out, the attached cord is not a great problem. If you are cramped for space, or do all of your operations at one location (MFT as usual example), you will go crazy from all of the cords cluttering up a very small area.Greg B said:What is the difference, outside of the Plug-it? My local Woodcraft has a 1000 for $225 rather than the $335 for a 1010. I'm trying to decide whether the savings are worth it. Any opinions?

Daniel said:Tinker, Festool produce it. You can get at least here in Europe 2 version, the first one (#491144) 360 mm long - its the overall length with the cord, and the second one (#491145) 420 mm long. I don't know how to insert a picture, please go to:

NuggyBuggy said:I have read that the OF1010 can use all the accessories for the 1000, but is the reverse true ?
For instance, the LR32 set is advertised in some places as being compatible with the OF1010 and 1400: is it still compatible with the 1000 ?
Are there any other differences one ought to be aware of ? A search didn't turn up a real list of differences or improvement beyond this thread.
On a lark I just picked up an OF1000 from a user here (thanks Craig).
