Do you ever use all 4 sides of the mft?

Hello, i am in the process of building another MFT clone (the first 2 was paulk clones and they worked ok but gathered alot of dust and knicknacks in the compartments under it) and the last two tables were simply a festool 1080 and a festool 800 top that i put on some trestles (my favourite so far).

If i were to add some mft3 extrusions to these tables, do you ever use all 4 sides of the table or is it enough to have maybe 2 sides with extrusion? Or 1 long side + a small piece of extrusion for the guide rail hinge attachment?

Well I have them all round on two custom made units and I find I only use the rail in one position and now and then I use one or the other side, I think you find your idea is all you need really it's the holes I use the most and occasionally I clamp panels vertical using the clamps and one side rail. I reckon you'll be right with your set up

I would think your proposed set up would be sufficient. Maybe add an extrusion to one of the short sides? For those of us who add tables to extend the surface automatically lose the extrusions on that side. I am lucky enough to have added a sliding table to my SawStop TS so I find I'm using the MFT (for cross cutting) much less.

I ordered 2 extrusions from the short side of the mft kapex. We will see how much I will miss to be able to clamp along the whole table.
