I am a brand new owner of the Domino 500 and I love it so far.  But I am confused as to which drill bit should be used on the different biscuits.  Is there a sheet that has this listed?

The rule I follow is that the size of the mortise should be 1/3 the width of the wood and the mortise should be centered in the wood. This establishes the bit size. The length of the tenon is determined by what you are trying to join.

Youtube has some excellent videos by Halfinchshy and New Brit Workshop. You will save yourself a lot of grief watching these videos followed by practicing on scrap.

The Domino is a wonderful tool, but it requires good technique to ge good results.

Hi,

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

      The bit diameter matches the Domino thickness .....................    5 x 30 Domino  = 5mm bit,  6 x 40 = 6mm bit,  10 x 50 = 10mm bit, etc.

Google "Domino 500 supplemental manual" & "festool domino dimension chart".

Lots of good info to print out and keep with your mortiser.

I got pretty confused when I first got my domino. Even after taking a couple of end user classes.

Paul Marcel has quite a few ideos on the domino. I would start with this series then look for his domino crib sheet series.

they are very good and well thought out on the how to's and what for's of the domino
