Hey guys.

Building a bed frame that I need to use a few of the XL connectors on. Only have a DF 500 at the moment. Was wondering if anyone in the New York City area had one that I could borrow for an hour at my shop. Would happily trade for time on my 5’ x 10’ CNC or one of the other useful machines I have. Veneer press, 42” band saw, 24” planer, 24” wide belt sander, 255 Amp MIG welder.

If anyone is interested let me know, would be greatly appreciated and will definitely make it worth your time.  :)

If you want to take it apart you can use connectors. Veritas makes a ($) set of connectors for building a bench with 4 legs (bed) and woodpecker has a cross dowel jig for the same purpose. That way it will disassemble in the future.  Festool has their connectors for the df-700 but they are ($$)

I built a king size bed and two bed side tables gratis for our young friends. The wood was 1” quarter sawn white oak. The bed was normal king size, but had a large solid 8’ by 5’  headboard also of white oak.

The major elements of the bed frame were four 1” by 6” by 10’ glued together. I put the boards through a planer, glued them and then clamped them together on a door I bought from Home Depot. Doors are dead flat, even the cheap ones and provide a perfect glueing platform. The four 2” by 6” by 10’ beams came off the door perfectly flat.

I did use the 700 connectors paired with standard dowels. The bed was built in my shop and assembled in their house. It’s been there several years and is still rock steady even with two kids using it as a trampoline as well as the young couple.
