Finally got on the bandwagon and Santa brought me the Domino DF 500 for Christmas. Yay!!! Like everyone else around here, I've read and read and watched videos and read before pulling the trigger.  I gotta tell ya, I was really sorely disappointed all day that no, and I mean not even any sample, dominos come in the package. WTF!  I'm cutting slots and no way to check the fit. NOT EVEN ONE domino to show the wife what it is she bought me for Christmas. Holy Crap!  Of course, I've got a Woodcraft 20 Miles away, so I can run up there tomorrow and grab the Cutter and Tenon Assortment which I've verified they show 2 in stock.
The real question is why isn't there some kind of sheet showing what should be included in the Systainer or Package? At first I was thinking I received a previously opened product because it had no dominos, no wrench and no hex wrench for the small set screws. After removing the plastic insert, I found the wrench floating around underneath the insert, but still no dominos or hex wrench. Should either if these been in this package? The ordered Part was #574432 further described as Festool 574432 Domino Joiner DF 500 Q - Includes trim and cross stops.
But again, I think giving a 58 year old man a Festool Domino Joiner for Christmas without any actual dominos is abhorrent.  It's like giving a kid a battery operated toy with no batteries, and no stores open to go get batteries from.

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the Forum.  Congrats on your Domino.  They do not come with any samples as you indicated. If you check the website it gives current scope of delivery of all tools.

Welcome to the FOG.

You're going to love the Domino, even with the disappointment of no dominos included in the unit.  You can see what comes in the package as well as check out the supplemental manual here:

I'd highly suggest the assortment with the bits as an additional purchase.  It's great to have the full set given you'll find lots of ways to use the Domino in construction and woodworking projects.

Look forward to seeing some of your work as you get into the use of the new tool.

Mostly tongue in cheek complaining here. Actually excited as can be to finally get on board. Wound up getting the DF 500 Q along with the CT 26 HEPA  Dust Extractor.  Got all this today and a promise of the T55 REQ & MFT/3 for my birthday in March.  The slippery slope is broached. Wheee!

Yeah I can understand the dissapointment, but you'll really want the systainer with all the various size dominoes and bits.  After you get that you'll forget all about this initial bummer.  I highly recommend the domiplate, its so helpful and foolproof.

Hey festoolfootstool, just curious how you make your dominos? I should have searched before asking but maybe someone will throw up a thread.  Thanks

I agree that it should come with some dominos to try out, after all how much would it really cost to throw a few in. Sadly though, as with all other Festool tools, there are none you can buy without having to buy something else. I feel that Festool takes advantage of their loyal customers but yet we continue to buy from them, oh well. Overpriced but very good tools nonetheless.

I'm sorry but that systanier with the various size dominos is a rip , I just bought a bag of each size & then bought  all the CMT size bits to match

I saved a wad O'$$

Unless you get it free with the domino like I did :)

Any off cuts, just cut them to width put them through the thicknesser and then route the edges round, easy really good for making custom width dominos

Depends if someone wants the Systainer or not. Five CMT bits @ $20 / each + Six bags of dominos @ $20/ each =  $220.
