Domino minimum width

I'm attaching some 1" X 3/4" runners to the lower part of my legs of an end table (they meet at 90 degrees).  Can I use the 5mm dominoes to attach them?  I'm obviously not worried about the 5mm dimension - that should be fine for 3/4" stock but the width of the domino is 18mm and that leaves only about 3mm on each side of the domino.  They shouldn't be load-bearing.  They are mostly for looks, but I don't want to blow out the runners. 

Thoughts?

I hate to say it, but I'm going to defer to the forum members since I don't have any experience using a Domino in 1" width stock. I believe it should be fine. If you don't have an acceptable answer by Tuesday, remind me and I'll ask one of my colleagues.

Seems to me that we had another member ask this at one point, using cherry and the members said it had been fine in their experiences.

I've used the 5mm Dominos on small stock like that with very little left on both sides of the Domino and it works fine.  Obviously, be careful pushing in the Domino since you have so little on the side. In my case, it was molding; not load bearing, but wanted something helping the miters.

If you are concerned about those edges or the length of the Domino, maybe use the 4x20 Dominettes... (too small to be called a Domino!)  Looking at one here, it is nearly 2mm narrower than the 5x30, but more important, it is 1mm thinner.  Good enough to hold an unstressed miter.

Should be fine for decorative. 5x30 mm domino is 20mm wide, so you have about 2.5 mm (1/8") on sides. You can always check it on the scrap boards before your final decision. Please note, glue will add extra strength. If you'll cut it, use attachment for narrow stock and clamp boards.
Here is example with 28mm wide boards and 5x30mm dominoes. Works just fine.

Thanks guys.  I finished the piece today and was going to attach an image but haven't figured out how to do that from an iPad yet. 

It came out great, but 1" is a minimum for a 5mm domino.  I had to be very careful to keep things flat.  One inch doesn't allow much for the paten to ride on.
