Domino use question

I'm wondering about a (possibly absurd) use of the Domino.  How feasible do you think it would be to cut a tight domino mortise centered on the edge of 3/4 MDF or particle board, glue in a domino flush with the edge, drill a pilot hole in the center of the domino to mount hardware directly on the edge of the panel?  Would that give enough strength to mount a lightly loaded hinge or handle?

Should work.  I've seen the same thing done with dowels.  It would also work if you are mounting hinges on the face of the board, so long as the screw goes thru the domino.

Hi Fred

I have done just that using an 8mm Domino on some 18mm MDF which is as close to 3/4 as a Scotsmans grip on his wallet.

It is an excellent way of adding strength to the edge of MDF.
