Woohoo!!  Glad these two items are coming over this side of the pond.  :-)

Is the Surfix only going to be sold in the full set?  Or will the pieces and such be available a la carte?

A la carte it is! The oils, and abrasives will be available seperately.

Once again much cheaper for the US (sucks - but anyway ...) the Surfix kit is great value relative to the sum of it's parts. Assuming you use all of the content and have ongoing use for additional T-Loc Systainers that is (I have two already).

I found it interesting that if you find the oils to your liking they will be available in 5 liter containers.

I'm not sure that ANY Festool ANYWHERE can be described as "cheaper" -- probably more accurate to say "more expensive" in Australia...  [big grin]

Well, with the euro to dollar exchange rate at what it is US Festool prices are cheaper. I wish you would use the same voltage and do a no import/export duty deal with the EU ;-)

Well, you guys could change your voltage.  [poke]

...and eliminate your import duty.  [wink]

Let's not forget that Festool are aggressively pricing lower in the US v's the rest of the world strategically to increase market share.

Many factors influence local pricing - but make no mistake, there's nothing mystical or magical about US Festool pricing. It's simply priced low to grow business.

Sure thing, once I become the supreme dictator ruler of the EU [cool]

That is quite possibly true, I would have no idea what market share they enjoy in the U.S. or anywhere else in the world as far as that goes.  Do they have the significant market share in Europe and Australia (for example)?

No-one outside professionals & serious hobbyists has ever even heard of Festool in Finland at least.  [blink]

Mainstream hardware stores do not sell Festool/Protool/Mafell/etc. - "professional" stuff that is sold in those shops are blue Bosch, Makita, Panasonic & DeWalt gear, "home user" stuff is green Bosch, Ryobi, Hitachi and shop brand cheapo stuff.

Most professional carpenters & builders that I know regard Festool ridiculously over priced and rather buy two-three Bosch/Makita tools to run down on building sites for the price of one Festool. The only professional people that have raved about Festool have been kitchen installation guys (and that's where I got acquainted with the make myself).

Pretty much the same story for Oz!
