Greetings from the LIGNA in Hanover!

Festool shows the new Domino XL DF 700:
More or less the same like the old Domino, just bigger:  slot sizes 8, 10, 12, 14 mm with a maximum depth of 70 mm.

Shipping in September 2011 (at least in Germany).

HAAAHAAA GUTTED!   Works for me lol!

Joking! I get the same  [mad]

are you kidding me! i just bought the regular domino!
though i couldn't have done without untill september. but if the new one can make 14x70 mortises then i will buy it straight away. does look like it will be more bulky if it makes such mortises, maybe i won't sell the current model and keep it for smaller work.

hmm, i suppose that doesn't mean maximum mortise depth, but maximum domino length.
like the OF 500 makes max 25mm deep mortises, the OF700 will make 35mm mortises?
that would be an improvement, though i would have liked to see at least 40mm mortises.
i want to see it first!

That might be... 'cause the show is over for today?   [eek]
What does the term live-stream tell us?   [huh]

U.S. east coast should try it at 6:30 am, west coast at 3:30 am.
The little island in the north see (i.e. UK) may sleep longer... 11:30 am.
[wink]

To be honest, I am not 100% sure about the depth.  I just believe to have heard the Festool guy talking about "70mm".
But then again I have seen another guy picking up one of the samples they built:  The one half of the domino reaching out of the piece was still long enough to use it as a handle.  Hence it is not entirely unlikely that the domino itself actually was 14 mm x 140 mm x some 30 mm.

I'd hazard a guess that since the current domino DF500 has a maximum overall domino length of 50mm, the DF700 will have a maximum domino length of 70mm. i.e. 35mm depth. It may well have a deeper setting for offsetting the domino, say 40mm deep (in the same way that the DF500 goes to 28mm).

I can't see a 14mm bit oscillating & plunging to a depth of 70mm, let alone an 8mm one... [eek]

What can be better for a new product than lots of rumours and no pictures...  [big grin]

But seriously...  I didn't measure them, but I've seen them laying around.  They looked like this...

"Sharon, get the kids and pack the bags. We're moving back to England."

Hey Richard - you may need to sell the kids just in order to afford one;).

I think US dealers are currently taking preorders… delivery June 2019!!!!
