Domino XL suddenly running extremely slow

My brother in law just picked up a Domino XL and we started putting it to work today.  After less than 40 12mm holes the XL started running very slow.  We’ve tried different cords and circuits but same result.  [crying]

Unfortunately Festool support is not available today (Sunday) and we’re at a standstill.  Any ideas on what’s going on?

Make sure you've got a good solid connection with the Plug-It cord.

Is it a new machine?
As mentioned check the plug it connection. If it’s a used machine, could be brushes, or the controller.

It’s brand new, just opened today.  Tool not hot, tried different cord, dust collection working fine.  Thinking it must be electronics.  Frustrating ... but we’ll call Festool tomorrow.

My Domino did the same
After an epic 10 month battle with Festool I managed to get it repaired.
This was the diagnosis, I hope it might be some help

On inspection item 10000427 - the PTC resistor, was found to have been pushed in too far making contact with the armature(most likely on assembly), resulting in a blown component. We will order a new part and complete assembly of the tool on receipt.

Running slow was what mine did ~20 seconds before it ejected the magic smoke that makes it work, after ~600 mortices.
New armature got installed on warranty.

It’s going on a trip back to Festool.

Here is a video of what it’s doing.  We had to buy another to complete the job.

Well you got 3 mos. first if ya bought from a brick and motar bring back them let them check it out / swap for another one. or if not I’d call Festool service see what they say or just return it and buy another

Then we’ll see it on the recon sale in a short while [big grin]
