Don't blame Kapex

I finally have to admit that my lasers are working fine on my Kapex however, my color blindness doesn't always allow me to see the red lines.  I have on occasion stepped on my golf playing partners ball marker on the green when they use a red marker.  I did have fluid/grease on the laser cover plate when I first switched blades on my Kapex and thought my lasers were not working but cleaning the lens fixed that problem.  My color blindness is not total or all of the time so I have to be patient and concentrate to see the red lines.

Not a Festool or Kapex problem but one that others might experience as well.

I for one would buy a green laser upgrade kit for the KAPEX if someone was creative enough!! I don't have an issue seeing any particular colours, but green lasers would just make sense! ... What on earth were Festool thinking with red? [eek]

I figure if Festool's main competitor is red, they'd want to eliminate red from anything they can.

I would favour green.

My eye sight is fine but the red is pants out on site. Can't see it most the time so I just don't use it any more.

Green would be much easier to see

Green lasers offer way better daylight visibility. I would gladly pay another $150.

Not even sure where to start with this.

green is much more $$$

A trivial amount relative to the cost of the entire machine!

Just before the release of the Kapex in the US, I was talking with Christan O., (at the time he was in charge of TTS N. America).  When the Kapex was being developed green lasers were a new thing and were very expensive.  That's why the Kapex has red lasers.

Forget about visibility in sunlight, cost, etc. Festool has forgotten its basic principles here.

The lasers are adjustable and we all know that by convention anything adjustable on a Festool is GREEN

True then. But I am talking upgrade kit ... or even a running upgrade. I love my Kapex, but a few running improvements including green lasers and I'd probably upgrade.

"EYE" can image Festool being nervous about anyone producing a third party green laser upgrade kit [big grin]

I am disappointed that we're not seeing more running improvements across the Festool range. Poor visibility of the lasers in typical operating conditions has been a common gripe and the means to address it comprehensively is a no brainer today.

Such things as improvements to the casting, integrated work light, etc are all worthy of running changes - we shouldn't have to wait decades for a new model.

@ Festool
If a green laser is indeed visible in daylight, I'd pop for an upgrade kit. What's a few more hundred $$ when you've already purchased the saw, larger hose, vac, base extensions, UG cart & wings, extra blades...

Being red / green color blind, really doesn't make any difference to my which color the laser line may be.  I have no Robles seeing the line, but don't ask me to tell you the color of same....  However, as the Kapex ships with the red lasers, I know the answer.

Green is no easier to see outside then red.

Used both color hilti lasers side by side and the red was better outside, green inside.

My Hitachi has green lasers...

Mine are red, and it's quite new too, which model is that you have?

I was typing on my phone while out. I meant to type...

"My hitachi is green and has lasers"  ;^)

I have the C12rsh... Which has red lasers.  I really love it for the price I paid. How about you?

Cheers. Bryan.

Exactly the same model, with more volts. It has been in for repair once though as the DC brake seems to have a mind of its own. I have videos, pm me if you would like to see them  [big grin]

I think it's great. I do "get" the twin laser thing as I am constantly changing the laser from one side of the blade to the other on mine, and the dust collection is bad, but I have placed it inside a shroud which has made it better.

Not my experience at all. I've experimented at length with different colour lasers at various powers - day, night and underwater.

Blue was actually the best at similar power, but green was much clearer than red.
