I have built a handful of different sawhorses in my life, but I never found one that I really liked. They were always too wobbly, or too heavy, or too hard to store. I finally found what - for me - is the perfect sawhorse replacement. I don't own an MFT so I can't show you pictures, but I believe one would also be a perfect complement to your MFT.

There are two different version, and they both have their pros and cons.

The first one I got from Walmart for $49, but you might find them on closeout for $39 The LINK..  It looks like this:

[attachimg=#2]

The big pluses - it weighs just a few pound, folds to 4" thick, sets up and knocks down in SECONDS, and it holds 1,000 POUNDS!!! Yes, a THOUSAND pounds!!!

I also bought a slightly different version at Costco for $59, which has all the same features as above except it has adjustable legs (i.e. adjustable height) but only holds 700 pounds. It looks like this:

[attachimg=#1]

The 'con' of this model is that it doesn't fold up with the legs extended, so add a few more seconds for set-up time.

I have had both models for a few months, and ...

• I stood on two of them going back and forth when I put up the truss-joists in my shop.
* I used one for miter saw stand.
• I put a kitchen cabinet together on one.

I have to say they are like Festool in that they are one of those "I don't know how I ever got along without them" items. I highly recommend them.

Oh - they are also available outside NA.

Agreed its a cool table, got one for the brother in law at Costco last Christmas. It also comes with 2 clamps. Useful!  :)

Yes, both tables come with 2 clamps. They are the 'Irwin' style and are medium duty at best, but it IS handy to have them right there any time you set up the table.

Another thing I like about them that I forgot to mention is that they have a middle shelf to set tools on. Like some of the modular workbench designs discussed here, it is super-handy to be able to cut a board then set the saw on the shelf just below where you are working. I am old enough that my back is no longer as nice to me as it used to be - of course I didn't treat it very well when I was younger. Not having to lean down and pick a tool up off the floor is worth a lot to me.

I am so happy with these that I gave away all my other sawhorses. Ain't never goin' back...

WOW

witch one do you like best?
I need to replace my miter saw stand and this looks like it would work great.

Thanks for this info.  I have a really good use for one of the basic tables.

Unfortunately, your prices are Wayyyyy off, though I wish they were still what you paid. [sad]

Amazon was cheapest with free shipping at $79.99.  Did a google search and couldn't find it cheaper. (Walmart lists at $83.00 + Tax)

I did order one from Amazon on my Prime account for free shipping and no tax.  Thanks again.

Cheers,

Frank

Frank:

If you have the time, check your local WalMart. They are usually back in the paint area, and are NEVER well-marked and may not even have a sign on them.  That's how I found mine.

The Costco version is definitely $59 if they have them. They go in and out of stock at my store.

If you are taller than the 'average' male (5' 9 - 5'10") you'll probably want the adjustable one from Costco since it gets about 3-4" taller than the Walmart one. Other than that I would take either model in a heartbeat instead of any sawhorse I've ever owned.

Looks like the non-adjustable height is 30".  I think that's going to be perfect for my new Laguna mini-lathe while sitting on a stool.
My big lathe (Powermatic 3520B) is definitely a stand-up lathe, but I had been looking for a solution to mount my mini-lathe.  I was actually considering the MFT/Kapex, but hell, that table costs almost as much as the original lathe!  The Keter should be the answer.

No Costco's near me (Though I absolutely love them), and I'm not going to pay annual membership to shop online with them.
We have Sam's Club (Getting worse by the day) and BJ's (Getting better all the time) where I live in Melbourne, Florida. So...Amazon is our go-to first choice for most items.

Happy with the price I paid on Amazon. I just wouldn't trouble myself spending any additional time tracking down a $20.00 lower cost. [unsure]

Cheers,

Frank

I have the Costco variant and like it very much. Keter also makes a great line of toolboxs, OEM for Kreg and a few others.

I found these (non-adjustable) in the house brand (Husky) at Home Depot for C$60.  They have a "2 year limited warranty"  [smile]

They are a bit heavy but seem reasonably strong and fold nice and flat with handles on the side and end.  It is no problem to carry a pair of them up and down stairs.  I suspect with a bit of bungee cord they could be hauled on a Sys Roll, although I would not stack a pair of them on top of my Systainers.

With a 1x2 framework and a piece of foam across them they make an adequate platform for breaking down sheet goods.

I could also see using them as supports for a couple of planks to make a small DIY scaffold.  Certainly better than many sawhorses I have seen, used and made.

Thanks for posting this wow. I have been looking for something like this for ages. Just picked one up today for site use tomorrow. Will report back with any views on it soon. :)

Yeah - I am working in the shop today and needed to cut a 4x8 sheet of subfloor in half. I am working alone so I didn't want to drag it up to the mezzanine by myself. I set up my two non-adjustable ones in about 10 seconds each. Plopped the sheet up on them, marked and made my cut, and took about another 15 seconds each to close them up and put them away. I think it took me longer to mark and make the cut than it did to set up the tables!

I love these things as much as my Festools.

Boy, I wish I could get a hold of a couple of the adjustable leg version. [sad]

Me too! It looks like the adjustable model is currently only sold through Costco, but I can't find them at my local store OR at the Costco online store.

The adjustable model has a 700lb. capacity as opposed to the 1000lbs. of the non-adjustable. I guess I won't be able to stand on it if I do get one.  [smile]

I was waiting for someone to make that comment about me. I'm not exactly a small guy.

Brice, if you want I can check and see if my Costco has any. They wouldn't be THAT expensive to ship.

Wow, thanks for this! It looks like the adjustable one is a new model and now comes with four "holding clamps" and two toggle clamps. Details: http://www.keter.com/products/folding-work-table-2#benefits.

I tried a Google search on the new model, excluding the old model, and got no hits for NA.  [sad] (Search parameters = keter 17199331 -17182239) Plenty in the UK, however...

I personally find that 30" is too low for comfortable working for any length of time, but as a sawhorse substitute, I think it would be ok. But I'm definitely going to keep my eye out for the new model showing up.

Sure, the next time you're there take a look to if they have any, thanks.
