Peter Parfitt demonstrated a drill guide from Axminster in his video " Present Ideas - Things to buy: ".  Does anyone know of an equivalent drill guide sold in the USA?

This is the closest I found.

You can buy one here.
(make sure you're sitting down before you click thru)

The answer is no. You can't buy that style here in the US. But, you can't buy the drill he's using either. If you have that style of drill guide you pretty much have to use a hammer drill. There are a few corded drills besides hammer drills that have a collar that accepts a clamp.

After much searching a I found a used Hitachi drill stand.

But this doesn't do what you want either.

Sometimes I use the small Festool router on the lowsest speed with forstner bits but don't tell anyone.

OOOOPPPPPSSSS.....!!!!

I just realized.... it is supplied by a company in the UK......what threw me was the fact that it was priced up in US Dollars......Sorry..!!!!!

$78 or £49.

Yes, but it is on US Amazon, and listed with free shipping - might be worth a try!

Oh!......Well, maybe it was worth posting the link.

I have had one for years and mine is still going strong. I think they are German, made by Wolfcraft.

Regards, Tim.

Copcarcollector,

Yes, that's the one!

Actually, the one in the picture you put up has a dust collection port on it. As mine is an older one (at least 12 years old) mine hasn't got that fitted to it, they must have added it later on.

Tim.

I would warn against the Wolfcraft guide. I have plenty of experience with Wolfcraft from long ago, and there is one thing you have got to keep in mind with their products: if it moves, then very soon it will move too much.

The Wolfcraft guide swivels, so you can drill under different angles, and you can bet that very soon it will not ever be 90 degrees anymore. Waste of money.

What I like about the one from Axminster that Peter shows is that is fixed so you're always sure it is at 90 degrees. You can always order it directly from Axminster, they ship to the States.

There is always the Festool drill guide (768119) but it is over £250.

I am surprised that the Axminster one is not sold in NA - they are probably made in the Far East and boxed and badged for whoever wants it. Sounds like an opportunity to me.

I recently bought this one on sale for $20 from Sears.

Craftsman Drill Guide

I've got a drill guide very similar to that, mine is certainly not a precision tool. Almost impossible to get it set to an accurate 90 degrees or any other precise angle. Mine is about 10 yrs old, maybe they've improved, I hope so for your sake.

I have one of those type drill guides that I got with my very first WorkMate table.  That must have been nearly 40 years ago.  It was thrown in for free as part of the promotion to develop interest in the tables. I still have that table and use it often, especially when working outside.  the table dogs are still in use on my MFTs nearly every day. The drill guide got put in a corner buried out of site.  Occasionally, i bring it out and think about setting it up, but none of my drills seem to fit.  I find it quicker to set up on drill press and the drill guide goes back in the corner.  It looks as if some improvements have been made along the way.

Hi Tinker

The 43mm collar size helps - it fits the PDC 18 for example.
