I bought  Dts 400 a couple of moths ago with some Brilliant 2 220 for drywall and am just now getting into some other projects.  I have decided  to buy granat because it will do everything and be a great start.  Looking for advise on what grits to get.  What do you use with your dts400 and what do you use it for?  Keep in mind this is my only sander for now and could be for a while.  I will use  it for sanding wood up to finish and between coats.  I will also use it for stripping old finishes on furniture and such.

thanks
Jason

You shouldn't skip the lower grits (40, 60, 80) if you have to use them at all. But after that you can start to skip grits and achieve great results. I would say 80, 120, 180, and the 220 you own would get you going. I would start with the 120 and see how it reacts. You can go up or down from there. If you would like more grits than that, I would focus on the 40 to 400 range. With the anything over 240 for sanding between finish coats or sealing end grain.

Atlas machinery in Toronot just made a granat systainer up of all the grits for the dts!

So sweet, you should check it out, they even got the insert so the dts paper sits in real nice.

Rough sanding or stripping a finish is a slower going process with the DTS400 even when loaded with a rougher grit, so allow more time for it to do the job when compared to either an ETS150/5 or the Rotex models since you said this one sander has to do it all for you for awhile.

Strange thing I was going to start a thread about this

Just got a stock of granat .and was checking out what else I've got in the cupboard and I've still got loads of 120 in Rubin ,brilliant2 and Titan .but I've used nearly all my 80 grit in all types

Just don't seem to use 120
