I have owned and used the DTS 400 for years - probably 9 or so at this point. It is a gem. I am working on a project with lots or sanding next to edges - so I decided to get the newer DTS 400 with the guard. WOW - this new sander is amazing. Smother than my original, less vibration and overall a pleasure to use. I did not think that there would be that much of a difference between older and newer generation, but in my opinion the new one is a worthy upgrade.
I now have the trifecta of the newer design with the ETS, RTS and DTS - they all excel at certain things and I am glad that I have them in my arsenal.
