Having bought 2 festool sanders new I was surprised to see one sheet of paper in the box. Is the dts one of few that don't come with paper?

In the US many sanders come with a sample pack of paper -- the RO and ETS sanders do at least.  The DTS only came with a sheet of 120 grit or 150 grit if I recall correctly.

I've got every FT sander sold in the US.  They all had sample packs of paper.

Too many different answers...  ???

I know the ro sanders do come with the samples.

I do no think that the DTS, RTS RS2E, DX93 or LS130 come with an abrasive sample pack.  I think that these sanders comes with one sheet of paper and that is it and I think it is 120 grit Brilliant 2.  All of the RO sanders, ETS sander and the RAS come with a sample pack of various abrasives.  I just checked the catalog and each sander clearly states under "Extras" what is included.  The only exception here is that the DTS, RTS and RS2E do not list "extras" but I am almost certain that they come with one sheet of paper only.  Maybe a dealer or Shane can confirm if the scope of delivery has changed for these sanders and specifically the DTS 400.

You nailed it, Scot!

I just looked in some new DTS systainers. They had one sheet of 120 Br2.

perhaps it depends on the dealers...  The only sander that i might not have gotten a sample pack was the rs2e.  Every other sander came with more than just 1 piece of paper.  perhaps it just the dealer greasing the wheels.  I have always receives one (or many times more) piece of each type so may time, i ended-up with 15 or 20 pieces..

Just checked my DTS Systainer, only 1 piece of paper within 120 Brilliant 2. I do not recall seeing anything else in itwhen I first got it

Perhaps it depends on the country. In Europe, no sample packs, ever. Just a single sheet in case you might forget what the machine is for. In America, apparently they do come with a sample pack sometimes.

Ok, so i should have bought it!

i assumed it would come with so i didn't walk away with one. the guy said "your going to pass over paper?!" i said yes and didn't want to get into how much it would cost me to start stocking up on a new shape of paper especially since i'm getting it just for a couple drywall spots for now. i'll get it next time i'm up there.

If FT or some FT dealers are monitoring this thread, and including abrasives is really optional -- read on....

It really makes sense to include a sample pack.  Until the sample packs, I had been using Rubin and Brilliant2 types of paper.  Then I got a sample pack with Platin, Vlies, Granat, etc in a couple of grits and was off to the races…  The education I received in abrasives really set the FT hook… and drove more sales…  So for the cost of 15 or 20 sheets of paper, you get loyal repeat buyers...

I got my DTS last month from "The Nuts"  [wink] -- it had one piece of Brilliant 120 included (as was true for a couple of other posts above).  I hope that helps.  [unsure]

Sometimes they do give samples (I'm not talking about the dealers, but festool themselves). I only have two festool sanders, a rotex 150 and a rotex 90. The rotex 150 came as a special that ran at the time I bought it with a free storage systainer with a varied sample set, and the rotex 90 came with a very varied sample pack (mostly granat paper, but a few others, even vlies pads).

(Nice thing about the rotex 150, the special had just started, and I wasn't aware of it at the time (nor my dealer), but I got a phonecall a few days later that festool send the systainer with the sandpaper to my dealer.) Bad thing about the rotex 90: I was supposed to get a 30€ voucher for accessories with it, but they cheated me out of it, because I buy my tools in Holland and live in Belgium)

Both were special offers. I'm talking about the everyday standard package.
