DTS REQ 400 Obital random?

Is the DTS REQ 400 Obital random?
Can I  sand in any direction like my ETS EC 125?

Yes but it has a slightly finer 2mm orbit whereas your ETS EC 125/3 has a 3mm orbital stroke. So yes, any direction.

The DTS400 is orbital but not random orbit.

With my RTS, I find that I have to work with the grain to get a consistent finish, yes.  So if you sand down a piece with an ETS, and then work the edges/corners with a D/RTS, you will get inconsistent results if you work the D/RTS cross grain rather than with the grain.
