Dumb OF 1400 EQ question

I received a new OF 1400 EQ from SWMBO for Christmas.  Due to a Christmas gift of the flu and then pneumonia from my son, I haven't had the chance to look at the router until today.

The router has a large piece of black foam under the motor.  I presume that this is used to stabilize the router in shipping prior to sale.  Now for the dumb question:

Is there some way to remove this or should I just break it off?  See, told you it was dumb. :o

You may need to pull quite hard (having carefully ascertained the direction of pull -DAMHIK)

Wait!  Don't just yank it out.  It's a very useful piece of foam and you don't want to break it.  The foam pivots around one of the two vertical posts, so you want to grab the end opposite that, pivot it out fromthe center of the router, and then pull it off the post.  You can reinstall it in the reverse order.  The foot on the foam helps make sure the edge guide is in the proper place in the systainer when you're storing the tools.

Oh Man! An Edge Guide Storage Positioning Jig.    This could be the start of a whole new systainer accessory line.  And then for course you will need a systainer to store the positioning guides in. And then a jig to properly position the positioning guides .........  this could go on indefinetly :o  I am gonna need another sysport!

I for one wish that you didn't have to make 1/4" perfect positioning of the tools in order to close the lid on the systainers.  It takes me as long to repack my router accessories as it does to perform most of my routing operations.

I did not keep that little piece of foam, but its absence doesn't bother me.  I generally load up the Systainer with lots of accessories, including 3 dust collectors, several bits, setup bars and blocks, and 4 collets, and an owner's manual.  The key is putting things into the Systainer in the correct order.  After all the Festool components are placed in their intended locations (as molded into the insert), I "toss" in the bits and such.  Each of the bits is protected by its original packaging.  The result is a rather heavy Systainer, and one that does take a bit of time to unload and reload.
